NSW Magpie Hill project enters EIS preparation with 3.6 GWh BESS

The New South Wales Planning Portal lists the Magpie Hill Solar Farm in Goulburn Mulwaree at the Prepare EIS stage. The proposal covers up to 450 MW of solar generation and a battery energy storage system of up to 450 MW / 3,600 MWh, with associated infrastructure.

For developers and equipment suppliers, the planning stage is an early procurement signal rather than a construction award. Land use, biodiversity assessment, grid connection, fire safety, access, noise and the BESS footprint can all change the technical envelope before final equipment selection.
