Octopus Australia has referred the Hanworth battery project for assessment under Australia’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, according to Energy-Storage.news. The reported project scale is 4.8 GWh, with state and federal environmental processes running together.

The project is a substantial future storage signal, not an equipment award. Environmental conditions, grid studies, layout, fire safety, financing, EPC selection and notice to proceed can all change the procurement path and delivery date.

Suppliers should keep offers conditional on approval gates and request the latest design basis. Price usable energy, augmentation, safety systems, delivery windows and long-term service against the final approved configuration.
