SECI issued a request for selection for 100 MWh of standalone energy storage, sized at 50 MW for two hours, under tariff-based competitive bidding. The tender notice was published on 28 August 2026 and lists 30 September as the bid deadline.

The two-hour configuration makes the commercial test more specific than a headline MWh number. Bidders need to show usable energy, charge and discharge limits, response capability, availability treatment, augmentation assumptions and who controls dispatch.
