Germany's Federal Network Agency has launched the first 4.5 GW auction under the proposed StromVKG capacity framework. The tender invites dispatchable generation and long-duration storage, with bids due September 8, according to pv magazine.

For storage developers and procurement teams, eligibility is driven by more than MW and MWh. The reported rules require at least 10 hours of continuous discharge, 100% technical availability, at least 92% round-trip efficiency and specified component-origin conditions.

Treat policy requirements as a technical input at the RFQ stage: verify usable-duration guarantees, auxiliary consumption, availability definitions and cell-and-inverter origin. SolarXport can support an energy storage equipment shortlist and a project-specific technical sourcing request.
